Building Community Connections for Our Upcoming Residents

At Pottersway House, we believe that a care home should be at the heart of its community, offering residents a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection. Although we are yet to open our doors, our team are already working hard to establish meaningful links with local groups and businesses to ensure our future residents have every opportunity to engage with the wider community.
Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting with a number of key local partners, including Alsager Library, the Scholar Green Baby and Toddler Group, the Wilbraham Arms public house, and the Heydays Social over-60s support group at Alsager 13 Club. Each of these organisations plays an important role in community life, and our aim is to create lasting partnerships that will benefit our residents from the moment they move in.
These connections will allow our future residents to enjoy a variety of local events, activities, and social opportunities. However our residents choose to fill their daily lives, we want to ensure that Pottersway House is more than just a place to live—it’s a place to thrive and call home.
The Heydays Social group, in particular, offers a fantastic opportunity for older adults to meet, socialise, and take part in activities designed to enhance well-being. By forging links with them now, we’re laying the groundwork for future residents to join a welcoming network of like-minded people, helping to combat loneliness and promote independence.

For our team, building these relationships now means that when Pottersway House opens, we’ll already be well-integrated into the local area. This will make the transition for new residents even smoother, as they will have access to a wide range of activities and events right from the start. It also helps us shape our all-inclusive activities programme in a way that truly reflects the interests and needs of our residents.
We are committed to ensuring that Pottersway House is a place where people feel connected—not only to those within our care home in Church Lawton but also to the wider community. These early steps are just the beginning of what we hope will be a thriving, active, and engaging environment for all.
If you’re part of a local group and would like to collaborate with us, we’d love to hear from you! Alternatively, if you are looking for a care home that has the perfect blend of exceptional care and a vibrant lifestyle, please get in touch with a member of our lovely team.
