Celebrating Our First Birthday at Pottersway House

There was a wonderful sense of celebration at Pottersway House this month as residents, families and team members came together to mark the very special milestone of our first birthday. Over the past year, Pottersway House has grown into a warm and welcoming community, where compassionate care and genuine connection are part of everyday life. This first birthday offered a perfect opportunity to reflect on the many meaningful moments shared and to look ahead with excitement to the future.

Our celebrations were marked with a delightful party, thoughtfully arranged for residents and their loved ones to enjoy together. Our talented Chef, Andrew Crutchley, prepared a beautiful cake for the occasion, which was enjoyed alongside a glass of prosecco as everyone raised a toast to the past year. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, with plenty of laughter and time spent reminiscing.

Music played a special part in the afternoon, bringing everyone together in a way that felt both uplifting and familiar. Guests were treated to a sing-along featuring some of ABBA’s most loved songs, which were played by our local pianist Aida. The music filled the home and created a lovely sense of togetherness, with many residents and family members joining in and enjoying the moment.

Since opening our doors, Pottersway House has become much more than a place to live. It is a place where friendships are formed, where small everyday moments are cherished and where each resident is supported with kindness and respect. This first year has been shaped by the dedication of our team and the trust of families to create a home where people feel safe and truly valued.

Our Home Manager, Rachel Simpson, reflected on the occasion:

"Celebrating our first birthday at Pottersway House has been a truly proud moment. Over the past year, we’ve watched our home grow into a vibrant, supportive community where every resident is valued and every achievement is celebrated. I’m incredibly grateful to our dedicated team, who bring such heart and commitment to their work each day, and to our residents and families for the trust they place in us. This first year has been full of joy, laughter and meaningful moments, and I’m excited for everything we will continue to build together.”

Carol Marsden, age 77, is one of our very first residents at Pottersway House and shared that she has "loved every minute since moving in". Her simple but heartfelt reflection speaks volumes about the welcoming and supportive environment that has been created.

As we look ahead into our second year, there is a continued focus on providing high-quality, person-centred care in a setting that feels comfortable and reassuring. Our team remains committed to building on the strong foundations of the past year, ensuring that every resident continues to feel at home.
