Our Grand Opening Celebrations!

On Thursday 2nd October 2025, we proudly welcomed residents, families, friends, and local community members to Pottersway House Care Home for our official Grand Opening. Although we’ve been part of the Alsager community for nearly a year, this event felt like the perfect opportunity to reflect and celebrate all that we’ve achieved together since our very first day.
The afternoon was held in our elegant reception and lounge area, where guests were greeted with friendly smiles, sparkling glasses of Prosecco and the soft sounds of live music. We were honoured to be joined by the Mayor of Cheshire East, Councillor David Edwardes, who officially cut the ribbon and declared our home open. During his speech, he spoke warmly about our beautiful surroundings, the dedication of our team and the sense of community that has already made Pottersway House such a cherished part of Alsager.

Our talented Head Chef, Andrew, prepared a delicious homemade buffet for everyone to enjoy, while the wonderful Quartet Cabaret filled the air with their stunning string music. It was a mix of classical pieces and familiar modern tunes that had everyone tapping along.
One of the most touching moments of the day came from our resident, Mary Comer. Mary has been with us for 4 months and shared a beautiful poem she had written about her time at Pottersway House. She spoke so eloquently about the “kindness a plenty” she has found here, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Her words truly captured what life here means to us, which is compassion and creating a genuine feeling of home.
As the afternoon drew to a close, residents and guests joined together in a cheerful sing-along of 'Getting to Know You' from The King and I. It was a lovely way to celebrate the friendships and bonds that have grown within our home over the past year.
Reflecting on the event, our Home Manager, Rachel Simpson, said, “It’s hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since we welcomed our first residents through the doors of Pottersway House. I’m so proud of what we’ve created. It is a home filled with laughter, friendship and care. None of this would be possible without our wonderful residents, their families and our dedicated team who give their all every single day.”
Rachel added, “Our goal has always been to make Pottersway House a true home-from-home, where residents feel fully supported and valued. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to continuing to serve the Alsager community for many years to come.”

As we look to the future, we remain committed to providing first-class residential, nursing, respite and dementia care. Our home in Church Lawton offers the perfect balance of peaceful rural living and modern comfort, with 60 en-suite bedrooms, bright communal spaces, a cinema room and daily activities designed to help residents live fulfilling and joyful lives.
